Artisan Restaurant, Tavern & Garden is one of the very first “true” farm-to-table concept restaurants. Not familiar with the idea? A farm-to-table dinner is a meal that's prepared on-site with ingredients sourced from our farm and other local producers—over 20 local farms, to be exact.

Artisan Restaurant

Artisan Restaurant celebrates the agriculture and food craftspeople of Vermont, sourcing ingredients from over 20 local farms. Executive Chef Frederic Kieffer and Chef de Cuisine, Erin Bevan, orchestrate operations and create seasonal exceptional food, served in our elegant dining room full of modern country charm.

Tavern & Garden

The Tavern & Garden is a cozy and casual gathering place with a large flat-panel TV for sports and weekly live music where friends can hang out. The bar features an impressive variety of local beer and hard cider, small batch wines and cocktails. In the summer months, we have two outdoor dining areas with our patio overlooking the gardens and ponds, plus a small courtyard in front of the restaurant, both serving al fresco dining.

For the winter season Artisan Restaurant, Tavern & Garden at the Four Columns Inn serves dinner five nights a week, Wednesday through Sunday, from 5:30 pm (closed on Mondays and Tuesdays). On Sundays we also serve Brunch from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm. From May onward we will revert to our summer hours and be open for dinner on Tuesday nights too.  

Please note: The Inn and Restaurant will be closed beginning April 5th, reopening on Friday May 8th, 2020. 

Meet Chef De Cuisine Erin Bevan

It seems fitting that Erin Bevan, a Massachusetts native with a penchant for sustainable agriculture and honest cuisine, is responsible for production and daily management of Artisan at Four Columns Inn. She was raised on a family farm that produced 90% of the food that sustained her family. Now, at one of the country's first true farm-to-table restaurant as Chef de Cuisine, Erin has come full circle.

It was in the Boston area she had her first true fine dining experience, seeing food in its artistic form where she sought out prominent chefs to train with. It was at Via Matta under Michael Schlow, a James Beard award-winning chef, Erin had the privilege to cook for celebrities, rock stars and even a former US President, Bill Clinton. After a spell in Buenos Aires Erin once again returned to Boston, working under Jody Adams, another James Beard award winner and top female chef, and Jamie Bissonette and Charles Draghi where she honed her skills in charcuterie, pasta and pastry arts.

Almost 15 years from the day she first stepped foot in a professional kitchen, Erin joined the staff in April of 2017. Erin sees Artisan at the Four Columns Inn as her perfect home - a place where she can express her creativity while supporting the local farming community of Southern Vermont and the artisans producing the farm-raised ingredients highlighted in her honest and nourishing farm-to-table cuisine.

  • Wednesday: Live Music + Beer & Burger specials for just $15 ($5 Drafts All Night).
  • Thursday: Hand-made Pasta & paired wine for just $20.
  • Sunday: Brunch.  Entrée plus Mimosa, Bloody Mary or House beer or wine for just $18.
